Norfolk Avenue vs. Whitegate Road

I have been told that sometime in the early 1900's, Norfolk Avenue became part of Whitegate Road and so ceased to exist.  Can anyone please confirm this and provide the date when it happened?

Assuming it did happen, did the properties in Norfolk Avenue keep their original house numbers? Many thanks to anyone who can help.  :-/

Hi,
    I don't have specifics for you. But my Dad did tell me that years ago, before the Queensway was built many of the roads that are now 'split' by the new road were joined. York Road also being one of these along with Whitegate and Norfolk.
    Sorry I don't have anymore at the moment for you. I live in Whitegate road now and will try and find out about the numbers.

Never noticed this post before...

I have an OS map of Southend from 1959/60. I will try to remember to check it tomorrow. If I don't, hassle me!  Smiley
