Sack the proof reader!
Apr 18th, 2010 at 9:57pm

We received an election leaflet from the Lib Dems today.  In large headlines it states
               "Former Mayor pleadges:-
                                         "no expenses for me" "

So far so good. Sadly near the foot of the pages it states
               "My three pledges to you:
I will put local people first
I will.....be a strong voice for Rochford & Southend East
I will be open & honest about ALL expenses incurred when representing you."

Are they the expenses that he won't be claiming? Roll Eyes Grin Grin

I've turned the leaflet over and on the reverse it is headed "Southchurch Focus".
There then follows a little about the Council candidate standing for Southchurch Ward, at the end of which it states " She is determined and prepared to speak her mind and wants to make Southend & Thorpe Bay even better places to live"

Southchurch, the ward she wants to elect her, can presumably go to hell ?  Sad

I just love these leaflets that come through.
There are always a few residents that like to pick up on these things at election time. I have been got at too in my 3 years as a candidate. BUT....... never for a geographical thingy up, or about expenses.

So next year when I stand again, think about that.... a couple of spelling mistakes and a missing coma (as in my case) or someone standing in an area, while promoting another ward, and not spending the expenses he/she is getting that their not claiming.

One ponders Grin Huh Roll Eyes

We had some fun recently with our candidates for the local elections. Take a gander through this thread on Orsett Village...

Be sure to read through to the end, to see the newspaper articles about the bitching between UKIP and the BNP!  Smiley

  Dear oh dear, Shocked

I can't access the facebook stuff at work. But from the list of things that those people have written makes for an interesting read.

Thing is, I know the name Mark Onion, its not a name you hear often, onion that is. I wonder if he he has been involved in anything like this elsewhere. Maybe it made local news or something. Mind due, onions do repeat on some people......bbbbbwwwwrrruuupppp! lol Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin

I don't like the BNP full stop. UKIP, they are a european party, they have no place in local elections. Just my view.

The other thing is surely his Aunt knew about at least some of this stuff. Family members look at each others facebook pages all the time, plus they would of both been to the candidates meetings when they signed up. Then it also casts a shadow the other way, if he was a mole then she must be guilty by association and should also be sacked as a candidate. Hmmmm Roll Eyes

Check out Milton Ward Community Group on Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/group.php?gid=113015758715663&ref=ts

They are supporting Julian Lowes, their chairman, as the local man and proper Independent who actually lives here with his family and is involved in the community.
