Although printing is carried out
using a diffuser lightsource ( which helps to suppress slight scratches ), The wet
gate method offers the best way to eliminate scratches on the base side of film and some minor scratches on the emulsion side.
It CANNOT eliminate scratches that have damaged the actual image on the emulsion side.
Do remember on some film prints, the actual scratch could have come from a previous positive or negative and subsequently
copied over.
Service includes clean up, but some residue can remain ( will not show on projection )
| Wet Gate Printing additional charge | £4.95 |
Enlargements are made from the whole negative to include the full original aspect Ratio ( non anamorphic only ).
These are printed maximum image size to fit the paper width.

Scanned and written to CD-R or DVD-R as a high resolution uncompressed TIFF file plus a high resolution JPEG file
and a low resolution JPG file. This service is intended for making digital masters from movie frames.
Scanning or 'digitising' film is done to very high technical standards with much attention given to detail.
A very high resolution scan is also available from 70mm and Internegative film ( 4000 dpi approx 280mb ).
Scans are performed using multi pass 'super-fine' settings with Digital ICE processing, level correction
and writing to CD-R or DVD-R.
| 120 and 70mm / 2000 dpi Scan and write to CD-R per image | £10.50 |
| 120 and 70mm / 4000 dpi Scan and write to CD-R per image | £13.50 |
Available only from duplicates and internegatives when scanning.
| de-squeeze additional charge | £2.95 |
Unusual requests can be discussed
and quoted for.
For example, we have been asked to produce detailed pictures of 'Dolby Digital'
data blocks on 35mm release prints, perforation damage, analogue soundtrack
close ups, splices or faults and even mis-registered Technicolor dye transfer images.
As you can see, this type of work is mainly used for training purposes,
...other uses can include technical illustrations.
By far the best and cheapest way
to send film is to cut out the frames required, thus saving on postage weight
( especially 35mm rolls ), however this isn't always the preferred way for the
owner as it involves cutting precious film apart.
Film can be handled and printed from rolls, but can be difficult to leave in
a marked way for printing.
Ideally, we'd suggest you cut your film at a convenient shot or scene change
which includes the required frame for printing.
The actual frame should be indicated by using standard cine splicing tape as
a marker ( ..as this won't leave any marks on the film afterwards ). If you prefer,
we can choose and print from the best frame ( in technical terms ) closest to
your mark, assuming the picture isn't too different.
Digital colour correction is quite effective even on 'fading pink' prints when using
film scanning, but we can't do miracles !
Please bear in mind copyright exists on most printed motion picture film. We
would need the copyright holder's permission
( in writing ) to reproduce images from their film.
It's strongly recommended film is sent by 'Special Delivery' and insured for it's full value.
Please note: It is illegal to send ( flammable ) Cellulose Nitrate film through the postal system.
