Time of My life by Alan Ayckbourn

COMEDY Gerry Stratton has organized a small family dinner at his favourite restaurant to celebrate his wife’s birthday. All seems well on the surface but what secrets lie buried in the past?

In Time of My Life Ayckbourn uses a three way journey through time to paint a darkly comic picture of family tensions and the fragility of true happiness.

A new professional production from the team that brought Ayckbourn’s Season’s Greetings to the Palace last year.

“… funny, very funny, and not at all funny: quintessentially Ayckbourn.”

Southend Vox Concert 2nd April 2011

Under the direction of Emma Turnbull, the energetic and entertaining new choir for adults, Southend Vox, has evolved from the town’s highly successful Southend Girls  Choir. Both choirs are looking forward to their first joint concert to be held this Saturday.

Emma Turnbull, 32, a founder member of Roger Humphrey and Rosemary Pennington’s Southend Girls  Choir, grew up singing with them in major London venues and throughout the world, before completing a music degree at Royal Holloway, University of London.  Whilst pursuing a career in an alternative industry, she has continued to follow her passion of music: In 2009, inspired by her years in the Girls  Choir, Emma started Southend Vox as a community choir  for adults that would fill the gap between the excellent youth choirs and the more traditional adult choirs in the town.

Emma has Crohn’s Disease and recently spent 36 days being treated in the Hockley Ward at Southend Hospital.  This ward also treats patients with bowel cancer, the UK s second biggest cancer killer. The choirs are delighted to have the opportunity to financially assist the ward through some fundraising at this concert.

The concert takes place on Saturday 2nd April at 7.30pm at Crowstone St. Georges URC, Crowstone Road, Westcliff-on-Sea. Tickets are £7.00 (£5.00 concessions) and can be purchased by calling 07725 002859 or e-mailing: info@southendvox.com.
