Farmer's Market: The Southend Farmers Market is held on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month on Southend High Street from 9am to 4pm. Free entry. More info at www.essexfarmersmarkets.co.uk.

Roots Hall Market: There's also the huge open-air Roots Hall Market on a Thursday, at the football ground (5 minutes drive down Victoria Avenue)
