Essex Council spends 7k on biscuits a year

Those that read the News of the World may of seen this story today.

The Tory run Essex Council and its 75 members have just been granted an allowance up lift of upto £175 a week each.

285 jobs have been cut at the Council yet the members and Chiefs have voted to up their budget by 1.69m a year.

Last year they spent £25m on consultants alone while many saw cuts to public services and the lower paid employees have had their pay frozen.

The food and drink bill alone was a staggering £63k of which £7 was for....

and really takes the....BISCUIT!

No wonder our own Council is in such a mess when their own Big Brother is leading by such a fine example.

While I understand your frustration - and indeed share the views, you must understand the voting system favours those with the biggest egos who can sell themselves the best. So you are likely to end up with those who would look after themselves ahead of the community they purport to serve. Any doubt that this is a less than accurate appraisal can be resolved by reading any newspaper in just about any country in the world. So I liked the jammy dodger crack Rainy - a succinct assessment!

It's about time the public were given a better deal, lets hope the wagon wheels of justice grind rather vigourously and maybe one day people will start getting value for money from those in power... I sincerely hope I live long enough to see it, I won't hold my breath though...
