Fancy Nancy Cake Decorating Book Launch

The team here at Sarfend was invited to attend a local book launch this week.

The book, The Cake Decorating Bible, has been written by cake decorating expert Juliet Sear, who runs Fancy Nancy on Rectory Grove in Leigh-on-Sea.

Juliet’s book is aimed at beginners looking to learn the tricks of the trade when making and decorating their own cakes, something that’s growing in popularity.

Speaking about the rise in home-made cakes and cake decorating, Juliet says:

“People haven’t got £50 to spend getting professionally-made, and are starting to have a go at creating cakes themselves. Creating cakes at home is also more personalised, and many people have been inspired by seeing shows on TV. With the economic  climate as it is,  people can’t really afford to spend too much, and are prepared to put the time and effort into creating their own showstopper piece”

Lots of people turned out to pick up a signed copy of Juliet’s book, as well as sample some of the Fancy Nancy cupcakes and champagne. If we were any other website, we’d probably point out that Juliet’s new book, was selling like hot cakes… but that’d be a little too cheesy, even for us. Local MP David Amess even turned up for his own slice of Juliet’s new book.

We managed to catch a few words with Juliet about her new book, and the recording is now available for your listening pleasure:
